How to enjoy luxury home fragrance with less waste

By definition home fragrances are a luxury, rather than one of life's essentials. But at little green candle we believe that simple pleasures are an important part of a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle. And with their ability to create ambience and lift our mood, home fragrance products definitely tick the 'simple pleasures that matter' box for us, and we know that lots of you feel the same. So here are six ways you can turn your home into a beautiful scent sanctuary with a bit less guilt, and a lot less waste.

1. Avoid candles which come with unnecessary or excess packaging. Our candles come in little hessian bags precisely so you can return these to us for reuse. Once you have six or more bags we offer free postal returns, and we'll even give you some reward points as a little thank you. By buying a little green candle you'll avoid any unnecessary frills, bows or gift boxes which generate a huge carbon footprint only to be put straight in the recycling.

2. Refill your empty diffuser bottles. All of our diffusers come with double or single quantity aluminium refill bottle options which also include replacement reeds. When you're done refilling, you can return your empty bottles to us and we will use them again!

3. Choose your wax melts with care. It goes without saying that our melts will fill your home with long lasting, stunning fragrance. But they also contain nothing other than wax and fragrance - no unnecessary glitter, no dyes or embellishments, meaning you can be sure their carbon footprint is as small as it can be. And you'll never find them in a plastic clamshell or cellophane bag - they're sold in compostable bags that preserve the scent (unlike hessian or cotton pouches).

4. Once your candle is finished, repurpose the vessel. Our copper tins are perfect for repurposing - pots for herbs, cacti or mini succulents, pots for loose change, buttons, hair bobbles - the possibilities are endless. Or...

5. Repurpose our hessian bags. Perhaps even more versatile than our tins, we know these little bags are put to a multitude of different uses by our customers.

6. Purchase our candle refills - what better way of reusing a candle vessel? Our main range of candles come in copper tins because, as well as looking fabulous, tin vessels can be safely reused again and again - unlike glass or ceramic, which could develop hairline cracks over time, increasing the likelihood of the vessel shattering during use.
